Policy Recommendations in Slovenia

Recently Slovenian NA hosted the dissemination event of the policy recommendations, drafted within the Becoming part of Europe project. Peter Debeljak from the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants highlighted that government inclusion strategy is being renewed (the process has just started and it is due to be finished by June 2019) therefore this might be a good moment to discuss this recommendations more in depth and to try to include the NGO sector in the strategy.

The big challenge regarding the discussion is who is going now to become the coordinator of the process in order to lead the dialogue between the Office of migration and NGO sector. The stakeholders present at the event agreed they will keep in contact to proceed and give thought about how to implement their views into the new governmental strategy.

The discussion continued in direction of some specific recommendations and it was emphasized that there should be grass-root approach and needs-based approach especially regarding integration of YMRA. We also talked about including YNGOs in the process of decision designing. There was also a mention of diverse projects regarding integration and that funding should be continued by Slovenian Government afterwards foreign founding goes dry.
